John Wayne Sace was offered to enter a rehabilitation center for his drug use but he refused several times, according to broadcaster Julius Babao who interviewed the former actor in 2023.
“Nanghihinayang ako sa naging kapalaran ng dating aktor na si John Wayne Sace,” Babao said on his Instagram page on Thursday, Oct. 31, referring to Sace’s recent arrest for his alleged involvement in shooting and killing an individual in Pasig.

Babao underscored that while Sace’s situation is hard given the accusations against him, it is harder for the family of his alleged victim.

Sace further said that he opted not to enter a rehabilitation center as he believed he could manage himself through “self-rehab.”
Meanwhile, broadcaster Bernadette Sembrano shared that she was also able to interview Sace in 2023, and reflected how the latter’s answers at the time were coming from “somewhere unfamiliar” to her.

“The recent developments – he allegedly killed someone – suddenly gave context to my time with John Wayne,” she continued. “I asked him during the interview what the next chapter was for him. He talked about being at peace, fear for his family… When I asked him what’s next for John Wayne, he didn’t envision this.”
